Decibel Meter – Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 15, 2026
Sound is analyzed on your device only
Decibel Meter uses your iPhone's microphone to measure the sound level (in decibels) around you. All audio analysis happens in real time on your device. Audio is never recorded, stored, or transmitted. No sound ever leaves your iPhone.
Your measurements stay on your device
Saved measurements and your daily noise dose history are stored locally on your device. We do not operate any servers, and we never collect, transmit, or have access to your data.
Microphone permission
The microphone permission is used exclusively for live sound level measurement while the app is measuring. You can revoke this permission at any time in the iOS Settings app; the app will simply be unable to measure until it is granted again.
No ads, no tracking
This version of Decibel Meter contains no third-party advertising, no analytics SDKs, and no tracking of any kind. If a future version introduces ads, this policy will be updated before release and any tracking will require your explicit consent through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
In-app purchases
Any purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store any payment information.
Health disclaimer
Noise dose figures are provided for general reference based on the NIOSH daily exposure guideline (85 dB, 8 hours). They are not a medical measurement and should not replace professional hearing assessment.
Children's privacy
Decibel Meter is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
