Frequently asked questions
How do I start live translation?
Tap Start Live Translation, read the short explanation, then pick OverLens in the system dialog and tap Start Broadcast. Switch to any game or app — the floating window follows you. Stop anytime from the red status-bar indicator or from within OverLens.
Why doesn't the floating window appear?
Make sure you confirmed the system broadcast dialog and that OverLens was selected in it. If the window still doesn't appear, open OverLens once so it is in the foreground when you start, then switch to your game.
Which languages work offline?
OverLens uses Apple's on-device translation — around 20 languages including Japanese, Korean, Chinese, English, Spanish, French and German. The exact, always-current list is shown inside the app. A language pack downloads once, then works fully offline.
Is my screen uploaded anywhere?
No. Text recognition and translation run entirely on your device. Frames are processed in memory and immediately discarded — nothing is recorded, stored, or transmitted. See the privacy policy.
What is free and what is Pro?
Screenshot translation is free and unlimited, and you get 15 minutes of live translation every day, forever. OverLens Pro is a single one-time purchase that unlocks unlimited live translation time and CSV history export. No subscription, no credits.
How do I restore my Pro purchase?
Settings → Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account you bought Pro with.
Translation quality looks off for a game?
On-device translation is optimized for clarity and privacy. Very stylized game fonts can reduce text recognition accuracy; the screenshot mode with a still image usually gives the best result.
Do I need a subscription?
No. Screenshot translation is free forever, and Pro is one honest one-time purchase. No subscription.
Does it work offline?
Yes — that's the point. Text recognition and translation run 100% on-device, even in airplane mode. Your screen content never leaves your iPhone.
